It was another hot Florida afternoon, and as I ate dinner, I decided I wanted to go take some golden hour photos of my Mia girl at a nearby park. I *knew* the park would be closing at sundown, and I'd pay a $2 fee for 20 minutes of shooting--but I didn't mind. My parents decided to tag along, and we loaded up shortly after dinner.
As we drove in the direction of the park, it started to downpour. No shock there, since it's summer in Florida. We continued driving because we knew even if it was raining and we couldn't get out of the car, at least we were out of the house. The pandemic has made us appreciate car rides more than we ever thought possible.
I'll spare you from a drawn out description, but basically the park we intended to go to and our back up plan park were both closed before sundown and we had to make a big loop back home.
Womp. Womp.
But then...I saw the most perfect golden hour light flooding into my parents' backyard and I knew I couldn't let it go to waste. So we ran to the backyard and had an impromptu photo and romp session.
Seeing my little girl frolic and giggle in the backyard I grew up frolic and giggling in is something else. I was seven when we moved into this house, so almost all of my childhood memories took place near that very backyard. Funnily enough, my most vivid memory in the "back acre" (as we often call it), is mowing the grass on the John Deere riding mower. I felt like the little girl in the Alan Jackson song, Drive. "Young girl, two hands on the wheel, can't replace the way it made me feel." The millennial in me wants to add an "lol" there, but really I can't listen to that song without bawling.
So long story short, that backyard is magical and lush and I hope you enjoy these photos from our session! I say this ALL.THE. TIME. but these are truly some of my favorites.
Bye, y'all... I'm gonna go make a fort out of this old boat. ✌🏼
