The beautiful-but-tricky thing about family photography in Colorado Springs is that the weather can turn on you in a heartbeat. Last year we froze our butts off at the Broadmoor for holiday card photos and this year we got smart; we beat the cold and grabbed pretty much the last perfect crisp fall day and I am so glad we did. It was a cloudy afternoon with temperatures in the sixties and as I drove to Bear Creek I was lowkey panicking it would be too dark.
When the Clifford family arrived, we walked about 50 feet to the photo location I found earlier that day and I was praying the sun would come out to play....and boy did it. It was such a fun session, (as always) with this family and I'm still in awe of the light.
The littles had fun throwing rocks into the creek, "spraying" me with a magical twig, and sitting on a big rock. Sometimes we expect so much from toddlers when it comes to family photos, but I think it's so important to let them be little. ☺️ And that's exactly what we did. We got some silly shots, some serious shots, some borderline-crying shots, and some perfect smiling shots; and they're all memories from the same afternoon. I know one day I will cherish the photo sessions of my own family, even when my little girl was running in the opposite direction, chasing after a butterfly. They're only this small for so long.
So without further description, enjoy this beautiful family session from Bear Creek:
