Have you ever taken a photo of your family at the beach and wish there weren't random people chilling hard in the background? Hi. Nice to meet you, I'm Julie. I hate knowing I'm in other people's family photos and I want the world to know they will never be in my family photos. I'm going to show you how seriously simple it is to remove objects from your photos using the free Lightroom App.
Another object I tend to remove from photos is an electrical socket. (Scroll to the bottom for examples.) I take lots of pictures of my little girl for my Etsy shop, and since she is a shorty; there are always outlets visible!
Let's get started! This is a photo I posted on social media of my little girl at the beach, sporting her Vickers Stickers custom swim suit:
But the original "straight out of camera" photo looked a little different:
1. Open your photo on Lightroom, and edit the lighting of the image however you desire. You can check out this blog for some tips and tricks.
2. Click the Healing tool. It looks like a little bandaid.
3. Now you're going to zoom in to the object(s) you want to remove, the same way you zoom in to a picture in your camera roll.
4. Then tap the object you want to remove and red marker will appear--as if you are scribbling them out. It takes some trial and error, but you can use the little diamond tool to move the blob around to make sure it matches whatever area you're replicating. (i.e., the ocean)
5. Repeat this on all the objects you want to remove! 😉
This trick isn't perfect for huge prints you want to blow up. Like you should definitely consider hiring a professional for those kinds of jobs. But if you want your beach trip to look like a private island on Instagram. 😎 This is for you!
Here is another before and after, using the Lightroom app on my phone:
So there you have it: more personal images with fewer strangers in the background! Thanks for making it to the end, be sure to follow me @JulieVickersPhotography on Instagram. 😘
