When I found out I was having a little girl, I knew I would get to put her in pretty dresses and bows. I figured she would be cute, fun, and a lot of work. I knew we would wear these matching Lilly Pulitzer Lobstah Roll dresses my sister gave us, and it would be the joy of my life.
But what I really never expected was how big her heart would be and for her sense of humor to be so impressive at such a young age. I never thought she would stop dead in her tracks on the beach to drop it down low and shake her booty like a professional booty shaker, all because she heard some booming hip hop music.
I never expected to watch Disney movies and see my baby's eyes grow teary when the Mom dies or the sister freezes to death. (The Fox and the Hound + Frozen II are big hits right now.) I didn't know what a giant heart for animals this little girl would have; always stopping to give her dog a neck squeeze and an "awwww." (And I certainly didn't think she would have the same affection for kitty-kitties.)
So I write all this to say, I thought this little girl would be a fun person to wear matching outfits with, but good grief, did her kind heart and silly personality take me by surprise.
And right before we loaded up into the car, a powered paraglider flew overhead and Amelia said "bye bye." 👋🏼
Check out last week's post for a word of encouragement to the forgetful mama.
