Turn Around (Every Now and Then I Get a Little Bit Tired)

Okay so the title got a little punny and dramatic, but I have to talk about turn around time today. Let me just start off by saying, I'm still new here. I'm still learning the ropes and sadly not swimming in clients' photos. To be frank, I'm in the shallow end of clients' photos. To be really frank, I'm in one of those zero entry pools..towards the dry side without any water. But there's something fundamental about my philosophy on turn around time, and I want you to know it well.

THERE IS NO REASON YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE YOUR IMAGES IN ONE WEEK.

Wait what? Am I really putting that out there? Yeah, I am. Because I've been on the opposite end of the spectrum too many times. Of course, I'm talking family photos, newborns, engagements, and homecomings...not the w word, (weddings.) But seriously, I've been the client for family photos, and got so impatient waiting for the photos that I wasn't even excited when they finally landed in my inbox.

Here's how it goes:

You're so excited leaving the session, you can't wait to see how the images turned out, you maybe get a sneak peek on social media, and then you wait...

..and wait..

...and wait...

....and wait some more.

Until finally you don't even care anymore. The email arrives in your inbox and your first thought is "it's about dang time."

So I've made it a priority with my sessions to have them delivered in a week. As a photographer, I know my enthusiasm and joy about the art I just created in-camera will dwindle with every passing day as I procrastinate dumping and editing the image set. As I also know the enthusiasm and joy about my work is also dwindling with each passing day for the client.

I can say, the happiest I ever was with a session was when I got the images in like three days. My maternity session with Emily Mills @ www.mrsmillsiephoto.com is forever my fave.

Have you ever waited too long to get your photos back? Tell me about it! I want to know I'm not the only one.
